KOTA KINABALU: A father killed a 38yearold estate worker who allegedly tried to rape his daughter in an estate in Tawau.

The man was said to have sneaked up behind a 17yearold girl who was watering plants at about 8.20am last Friday, before putting a sack over her head and hugging her from behind. The girl fought back and managed to flee.

It is learnt that her father, a 54yearold security guard at the estate, was nearby and came to her rescue.

He attacked the man with a parang.

Tawau police chief Asst Comm Fadil Marsus said the man was slashed several times on his legs and body.

“The man collapsed and was sent to the hospital for treatment but he died soon after,” he said.

The father was caught by another security guard and handed over to the police.

ACP Fadil said he would be remanded until June 2.
