Three ‘cops’ trying to rob man nabbed
ALOR SETAR: Three men who posed as policemen to rob a man were detained at Kampung Batu Lima, Sik, on Wednesday.
Kedah Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the three, aged between 21 and 32, were arrested at about 8.40am by villagers and handed over to police.
“At 8.30am, the 30yearold man was on his way to Jeneri in his Toyota Hilux when he realised that he was being followed by a Proton Saga and a Nissan Navara.
“Three men posing as police officers from Bukit Aman got off their vehicles and approached the complainant while holding a pistol and batons,” he said in a press conference at Kedah police contingent headquarters here yesterday.
He said the man managed to contact his employer, who then alerted the police, and at the same time asked for help from villagers via WhatsApp.
“The villagers arrested the three suspects while two others escaped,” he said.
“We believe this is the second robbery carried out by the same group as they used similar modus operandi. All of the suspects are believed to be from Selangor, who came to Sik and stayed at homestay units before committing crimes in the district.” — Bernama
