Sources said the papers would be submitted to the Attorney- General’s Chambers after Hari Raya for a decision and the next course of action.

It is learnt that anti-graft officers have already interviewed several FGV board of directors in relation to the case.

This was after statements were taken from suspended FGV group president and chief executive officer Datuk Zakaria Arshad earlier.

Yesterday, former FGV chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad and his wife Puan

Sri Bibi Sharliza Mohd Khalid were questioned for nearly four hours at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters here.

They were called in over allegations of corruption and abuse of power while he was at helm of the corporation.

“Both of them gave their full cooperation. Following this, the MACC will scrutinise the statements taken from the couple.

“Our investigations are focused on the issue of corruption and abuse of power.

“We are confident of completing the investigation very soon,” said the MACC in a statement.

Mohd Isa and his wife arrived at the headquarters around 9.40am and only left at 2pm to hordes of pressmen waiting to interview them.

“I was asked to provide explanations on several issues,” said Mohd Isa. “There were many issues. But I will not reveal what they are.

“This is normal. When there are allegations, as ( former) chairman, I have to explain.

“Let the MACC decide if they want to reveal or not,” said Mohd Isa.

When asked if he was innocent of any wrongdoing, Mohd Isa said: “How do I know? I gave my statement. Whether I’m wrong or not, I don’t know. Let the MACC investigate and decide.”

The MACC started investigating following claims of improprieties and abuse of power that were brought to its attention following a management crisis.

On June 6, Zakaria and three key executives were asked to take an indefinite leave of absence.

On Monday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced the appointment of FGV board member Tan Sri Sulaiman Mahbob as acting FGV chairman.

Mohd Isa, who resigned from his post, was appointed as acting chairman of the Land Public Transport Commission.
