Teenager saved by her sister’s screams

A WOMAN’s screams saved her younger sister from being raped in Kampung Wakaf Tanjung Hilir, Kota Baru, last Friday, reported Sinar Harian.

During the 2.50am incident, a man broke into the house and grabbed the 18-year-old sister, who was sleeping with her mother near the kitchen.

The mother, who only wanted to be known as Azizah, 45, said she saw the man placing a parang next to her younger daughter’s neck.

“I screamed but it was not loud enough,” she said.

Thankfully, for her younger daughter, the older sister, who was in her room, heard noises and started shouting at the top of her lungs.

“My mother would normally leave the television on but suddenly, the lamps and fans were switched off. Then, I heard footsteps and then the screams. So, I screamed hysterically for help,” said the 19-year-old.

The screams startled the intruder who ran out through the back door and tried to escape on his motorcycle. However, he fell off the vehicle upon being confronted by a neighbour with a stick. He then fled into the bushes nearby.

A 26-year-old man had since been arrested over the case. He was later found to have five previous conviction, including for drug-related offences and trespassing.

The 45-second clip showing a woman appearing in the background before suddenly vanishing went viral on social media two days ago.

Izzue, who had watched the clip, said he was terrified by the image.

“I contacted the director and editors of the programme. At first, they were horrified, too. But after I sent them the clip, they were sure that the image was human,” he said.

The image was actually a woman who had appeared on the porch of a house in the background but quickly rushed off when she realised that the cameras were rolling.
