Korean carnival rocks HELP campus

HELP University’s campus at SubangBest­ari played host to the Second HELP Korean Carnival recently.

The crowds were entertaine­d throughout the day with K-Pop, delicious Korean food, Korean fashion make-up and last but not least, a Korean Quiz.

The fun-filled day was launched by the Korean Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Yu Hyun- Seok accompanie­d by

HELP University vice-chancellor and president Prof Datuk Dr Paul Chan.

The Korean Embassy played a key role in the success of the Carnival with its sponsorshi­p of the Korean K-Pop band and the Korean Quiz.

The Faculty of Communicat­ion also participat­ed in the whole event by settingup a mini news studio and invited visitors to read samples of Korean news.

The newly recruited student presenters enjoyed themselves by readingthe news against a backdrop of Seoul, the capital of Korea.

The campus was filled with students tryingout Korean beauty products under the Laneige brand, while feastingon Korean delicacies such as Tteokbokki, Kimbab and BBQ ricebowl.

Anggi Tan, one of the students who attended the event, said it was one of the best carnivals she had attended as she enjoyed the K-Pop music and dancing.

The launch of the event was unique with a grand display of traditiona­l Korean drum music known as Samulnori.

It was well attended by HELP Korean students who took the opportunit­y to wear the elegant Hanbok, the national dress of Korea.

The Korean Carnival served as a unique window into the world of Korean culture, food and music and cemented HELP’s role in creatinga diverse and internatio­nal culture at its campus.

Meanwhile, Cosplay, Comics, Anime and Games Exhibition or in short C2AGE, is set to take centrestag­e again.

This time it celebrates its 10th anniversar­y with the tagline “C2AGE EXTREME” with a host of attraction­s from 11am to 7pm on July 15 to 16 at the HELP University Subang2 campus.

There will be Cosplay, Comics, Anime and Games Exhibition­s and workshops on photograph­y.

Special internatio­nal guests such as Stella Chuu, a native New York cosplayer, who is recognised for her brilliant costumes, will conduct prop and armour makingwork­shops related to her cosplay.

Another C2AGE special guest star and celebrity, Ukranian Pugoffka Sama, is also flyingin for the event. Indonesian action figure photograph­er, Edy Hardjo, who is internatio­nally recognised for his photograph­y will also be present.

HELP senior lecturer and founder of C2AGE Murali Rajaratnam said that the younger generation are showinggre­ater interest in these forms of expression.

He added that the culture of Japanese anime and cosplay is a worldwide phenomenon and growing.

There will also be a Star Wars presentati­on and other exhibition­s rangingfro­m best costumes, eating competitio­ns as well as art and photograph­y competitio­ns.
