Woman tries to jump off flyover with her dog

A WOMAN who wanted to jump off a flyover with her dog was dissuaded from doing so by firemen, reported Guang Ming Daily.

The woman was seen standing at the edge of the flyover in Permatang Tinggi, Bukit Mertajam, at about 11pm on Monday while carrying a dog in her arms.

The woman, in her 50s, told passers-by that she intended to jump. They quickly contacted emergency services.

Rescue personnel tried to calm her down but the woman insisted on standing at the edge of the flyover.

Someone from the crowd happened to recognise her as a resident living nearby, and contacted her husband to come to the scene.

When the husband arrived, she eventually followed him home. It was not known why the woman wanted to end her life.

He found the 42-year-old, identified as Tresia Paulus, with a cloth around her neck at about 6am on Tuesday. The cloth was tied to the window grill.

Police have ruled out foul play. A police source told the daily that the woman’s family members had objected to her marrying the man she loved.
