ACTRESS and announcer Anis al Idrus’ ( pic) recent wedding is said to have been funded by “secret sponsors” who spent millions on the lavish event, Utusan Malaysia said in an exclusive report.

The newspaper quoted an anonymous source who claimed that the jewellery worn by Anis during her wedding was worth around RM1mil.

The source said millions were spent on catering.

He claimed to have asked a friend about the identity of the sponsors and the amount they gave only to be told that it was a “big secret”.

The daily’s Megahits reporter noted that there was a trend among Malaysian celebrities to get millions in sponsorship for their weddings.

> A woman claims that a man is exploiting her daughter to solicit donations from the public, Harian Metro reported.

Fazuana Hoda, 34, was shocked when a friend told her that a photograph of her daughter Dhia Aisya Azman, taken when she was three months old and chronically ill, was spotted on a fake Harian Metro Facebook account detailing her illness and seeking RM75,000 for urgent surgery.

The housewife said someone using the name Azman Abdullah created the fake account and posed as the father of her child.

Fazuana said her daughter, now two, had since undergone surgery and follow-up treatment thanks to financial assistance from NGOs and the public.

Under the fake account, Azman posted that Dhia was having heart complications and breathing difficulties and asked for donations.

Fazuana and her husband lodged a police report after learning about it.

Kota Setar OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Rozi Jidin said police were tracking down the culprit.

The daily has denied any involvement with the Facebook account and advised readers to be careful of fake news.
