Public rescues woman from being sexually assaulted in toilet

A WOMAN was saved by members of the public from being sexually assaulted at a petrol station at Machang on Thursday morning, reported Metro Ahad.

The suspect, in his 20s, climbed into the toilet cubicle she was using.

District police chief Deputy Supt Dzulkifli Abdul Ghani said the 28-year-old victim screamed for help and bit the suspect to save herself before her shouts were heard by people nearby.

“Thanks to the swift action taken by the public, the suspect was caught and handed over to the police,” he said.

The suspect is being held for outraging the modesty of the victim.

Malaysians, who walked an average of 3,963 steps a day, were ranked 44th out of 46 countries.

The research conducted by Stanford University in the United States tracked the daily activity of more than 700,000 citizens from 46 countries using a mobile app.

Hong Kong, China and Ukraine emerged as the top three fittest countries in the study published in the journal Nature.

Hong Kong residents walk an average of 6,880 steps daily, Chinese nationals 6,189, and Ukrainians 6,107. Saudi Arabia and Indonesia claimed the bottom two spots, with 3,807 and 3,513 steps a day.

Nutrition and fitness consultant Kevin Zahri recommends individuals to walk between 4,000 and 5,000 steps a day to maintain their fitness, and up to 10,000 steps if possible.

> The body of a baby girl was found inside a plastic bag on the ground floor of the Taman Puchong Indah apartment on Saturday. Metro Ahad reported that the body was found by residents at 12.15pm.
