Young girls become unwitting ‘porn actresses’

-

GIRLS as young as nine years old have unknowingly become “porn actresses” after sharing their photos and videos with online friends, reported Harian Metro.

A study conducted by Onemyr Awareness Management showed that young girls’ obsession with indiscriminately befriending people online has caused them to fall into a “virtual trap”.

IT consultant Mohd Ridzman Azzahari said 10 pornographic photos and videos are uploaded on the Internet every day.

He said most victims were unaware that their photos were uploaded on international porn sites.

“They are so obsessed with making friends and dating online that they would share inappropriate photos and videos of themselves.

“These ‘friends’ may deliberately hunt for such photos and videos to sell to porn sites or blackmail the victims,” he said.

Mohd Ridzman said adult women also fell prey to such “grooming”.

> Forty high-rise residential buildings in the Klang Valley and seven more across the country have been likened to ticking timebombs for being high-risk fire areas, reported Berita Harian.

An apartment in Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur, for instance, was issued 224 notices by the Fire and Rescue Department in an attempt to bring attention to the flaws in its fire prevention system.

Besides not having fire extinguishers, the buildings were discov- ered to have defunct water sprinklers, obstructed fire exits or broken alarm systems, putting the lives of residents at risk.

The department’s directorgeneral, Datuk Wan Mohd Nor Ibrahim said 282 out of 2,904 fire incidents in the first half of the year involved high-rise residences.

Wan Mohd Nor said it is possible that something like the Grenfell Tower fire in London, which killed 80 people, could also happen here.
