Cops to walk the talk and uphold integrity

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department deputy director Deputy Comm Datuk Azizan Abu Bakar is determined to walk the talk on the force’s corruption-free pledge.

“This pledge will be translated into our daily life and our duties. We will make sure corruption does not exist – be it directly or indirectly.

“The same goes to the abuse of power,” said DCP Azizan.

He was among the officers who joined Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar in signing the pledge here yesterday.

Corruption, said Asst Comm Willey Richard, was something that destroys society and puts security at risk.

“It is bad and it tarnishes the image of whatever agency or force that practises it.

“I am very happy to be able to be part of this pledge and I give my full support to uphold integrity,” said the Commercial Crime Investigation Department assistant principal director for operation/intelligence.

ACP Willey said he would also shoulder the responsibility of ensuring that none of his men were involved in such activities.

DNA analyst Asst Supt Nur Ayuni Dayana Mohd Puaad, who is based in Bukit Aman, said the pledge was important to ensure that enforcement agencies were entities with integrity.

“I am a police officer and I feel great that we took this pledge. With this, we are committed to carrying out our duties in a better manner and with the highest integrity.”
