Ex-enforcement officer fined for graft
ALOR SETAR: A former Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Ministry assistant enforcement officer was fined RM1,200 by the Sessions Court for accepting a RM400 bribe.
Judge Azman Abu Hassan meted out the punishment after Muhammad Mat Saad pleaded guilty yesterday.
Muhammad was charged with accepting the bribe from a 50-year-old illegal fuel stor- age facility operator at about 2pm on Oct 4, 2014 in Kampung Remia Manis.
He was charged under Section 165 of the Penal Code, which he had earlier claimed trial to.
Muhammad changed his plea yesterday. He paid the fine.
He was represented by Prem Singh while Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s Syahrul Khuzaini Aminuddin prosecuted.
