> Actor Amin Khan is happy to fill his free time between jobs by making and selling roti canai, Sinar Harian reported.

The 62-year-old veteran, who is also a publisher and director, has taken up this part-time job at a stall in Taman Indah in Seremban.

Amin Khan, whose real name is Datuk Abdul Amin Mohd Kasim, said this was a way to enrich his free time when there were no acting offers or his production company had no projects.

“I learned this skill (making roti canai) from my late father. I don’t feel embarrassed as I’m earning honest money,” he said, adding that it was fun when customers asked to be photographed with him.

He was surprised that people still recognised him even though he had not appeared on TV for some time.

The 28-year-old said he once despaired of not having a regular income after quitting his previous job.

He ventured into singing and found success. Now, he also hopes to gain recognition as a songwriter.

“It was during that same period that I was inspired to compose songs and I managed to write more than 10,” he said during a photography session at Studio Utusan.

His first single, Pulau Hijau, had significant meaning for him, he said.

“The lyrics signify the way I got up from a past failure,” Atif Zul said, adding that he drew inspiration for his lyrics from everyday life.
