> Service isn’t any better

I agree that service charge should be banned. No difference in service of restaurants with service charge and restaurants with no service charge. Government should consider banning service charge to protect customers.

> Schools then and now

I am all for coding in schools but make sure that it is not an extra burden for the teachers. The teachers of my era, the 1970s, were exceptional in their dedication to their respective schools and especially to their charges. That’s all that matters – the children. The situation now is that both the teacher and child have lost the sense of joy in the educational process. Teaching and learning have both become a chore for a great number of teachers and children. The majority of our school-going children are made to view learning at school as a boring, even unpleasant and bitter, experience. – N.V. Subbarow, Penang

> Food portions shrunk

There are 30% to 50% off and “Buy 1 Free 1” promotions at certain restaurants. What’s the use of giving discounts when the food portions have become smaller? – Disappointed

> Working together

The move by the leaders of various faiths to sign the Inter-faith Joint Declaration against Human Trafficking is to be lauded. It is high time for religious leaders to utilise their available resources and engage their respective devotees to join the fight against human trafficking and rid our country of this menace. – 5th Beatle
