Ghost hoax haunts MRT stop

CCTV footage of ‘pocong’ just an irresponsible prank, says spokesman

-

RAPID Rail has dismissed tales that a pocong (a shrouded ghost) was captured on CCTV at an MRT station on Wednesday, Kosmo! reported.

Spokesman Lim Jin Aun hoped the public would not be duped by the image.

“It was only the creation of an irresponsible person to frighten people,” he said.

“I hope this issue is not hyped up again to prevent anyone from getting confused.”

The image of the pocong standing behind a pillar was widely shared on social media.

Commuter Izzul Ashraf Mohammed was shocked when his friend showed him the picture but upon closer scrutiny, he realised it was a fake.

> Kemaman district health officials detained seven students and seized 265 packs of cigarettes on Thursday after learning of an unscrupulous business tactic used by five grocery stores, Sinar Harian reported.

District Health officer Dr Mohd Anuar Abd Rahman said the stores distributed and sold cheap cigarettes to students and nearby education centres.

“We confiscated 15 brands of cig- arettes in 265 packs, worth RM1,306,” he said.

“It was the cheap cigarettes that attracted the students. They were willing to skip school just to get a pack that costs only RM3 to RM4.”

Dr Mohd Anuar urged traders to obey the law when selling cigarettes, especially to those who are underage.

The traders involved were slapped with compound fines totalling RM3,600 and served with summonses. If found guilty, they face a further RM10,000 fine or two years’ jail each, or both.
