Man steals rings then asks for an exchange

A MAN who allegedly stole three rings from a goldsmith’s shop in Tainan, Taiwan, had the audacity to return 30 minutes later to exchange one of the rings, Guang Ming Daily reported.

Earlier, the suspect told a worker there that he was looking for a ring as a present for someone.

He browsed for more than an hour in the shop and checked out three white gold rings.

Then he allegedly took off with the items and fled on his motorcycle, during the incident at about 6.30pm on Tuesday.

Half an hour later, he called up to say that he needed to change a ring which did not fit.

He was nabbed by police when he turned up at the shop.

> Speculatio­n abounds that Hong Kong director-producer Stanley Tong is getting married to his girl- friend who is 25 years younger than him, Sin Chew Daily reported.

Local media reported that Tong, 57, and his girlfriend planned to register their marriage in Hong Kong.

Tong has yet to respond to the speculatio­n.

> Actor-singer Andy Lau has denied that he and his Malaysian wife Carol Choo went to Nepal to pray for his health last month, Oriental Daily reported.

The 55-year-old Hong Kong star said he had been recuperati­ng at home after his discharge from hospital in March.

Lau, who was in Taipei to promote his movie The Adventurer­s on Thursday, said he has been resting in Hong Kong the past six months.

The superstar suffered injuries after he fell off a horse while filming a commercial near Bangkok in January.
