Stand united and reject Pakatan Harapan, Khaled tells Johor

-

PAGOH: The people of Johor must reject Pakatan Harapan to ensure that the state would not become a “Second Penang”, said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

He said the DAP and its allies in Pakatan have been stepping up their attacks against Umno and Barisan Nasional.

It is the duty of Umno members to protect the party and Barisan against the onslaught so that Johor can continue to prosper and maintain its Islamic values, he said.

“Do not dream of DAP sympathising with our race or showing concern for our religion and sensitivities,” Mohamad Khaled said at the opening of the Pagoh Umno division meeting yesterday.

Urging Umno members in the state to stand united, he said that a weak Umno would be disastrous for Malays and Johor.

On the coming general election, Mohamed Khaled said Barisan Nasional needed to win big to be able to set up a strong and effective government.

“We need to win a two-thirds majority, not just in Johor but also at the federal level,” he said, adding that a strong mandate was crucial to enable the Government to administer the country, including changing the Constitution.

On Pagoh Umno, he said after more than a year of losing its former chief, the division must now move on from the nostalgia of being led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who is now Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president.

He said, however, that he is happy with the spirit shown by the division members, which he said was emulated by all the party divisions in the country.

“The situation in the division has calmed down since the sacking of Tan Sri Muhyiddin.

“There was talk that more than 2,000 members would leave but only 700 left,” he added.
