PETALING JAYA: Adam Norrodin continued with his impressive form to earn a career best finish in the Moto3 World Championship.

The 19-year-old Malaysian finished eighth in the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring Circuit in Spielberg yesterday.

Adam completed the 23-lap race in 37:27.307 to earn his third top-10 finish of the season and improve on his career best result.

The SIC Racing Team rider was ninth in the Czech Grand Prix at the Brno Circuit last Sunday.

Adam, who finished 10th in the opening round in Qatar in March, qualified 15th on the grid on Saturday.

But he was optimistic of a better show in the race proper.

“I got caught up in traffic on my last run yesterday (on Saturday). But I was confident of my pace and happy with the way the bike worked,” said Adam, who is now 19th in the overall standings with 24 points.

Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah made a superb comeback from 21st on the starting grid to finish 10th in the Moto2 race.

The Petronas Raceline Malaysia rider finished the 25-lap race in 37:58.367. Hafizh now has 50 points to stand 12th in the overall standings.

Khairul Idham Pawi, the other Malaysian Moto2 rider, finished out of the points in 17th spot.

He collected his first points of the season after finishing 14th in the Czech Republic. He is 31st in the standings with two points. The 12th round of the championship is at the Silverstone Circuit in England from Aug 25-27.
