Child allegedly scalded, caned and forced to eat faeces by foster mum

-

THE mother of a six-year-old girl was horrified to learn that her daughter was abused by her foster mum in Kuantan, Harian Metro reported.

Umi Hamzah, 35, said the girl claimed that she was caned, scalded with hot water and had sambal smeared on her private parts by the relative.

“She said she also had to sleep in a storeroom and was forced to eat faeces as punishment for making mistakes,” Umi said in a statement on Sunday.

“I could not believe she could treat my child like an animal.

“If only I had known that my child was being abused, I would not have left her there.”

The incident came to light when Umi took her daughter back after eight months under the care of the 29-year-old woman.

She was shocked to find her daughter bald and with scars and bruises on her body.

When confronted, the foster mother claimed that the girl suffered injuries because she “was mischievous and fell”.

Umi has lodged a report at the Jaya Gading police station. The case is being investigated under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
