Bad doctors tarnish image of Health Ministry
I AM 70 years old. On July 27, I went to the Kuala Lumpur Health Clinic (KKKL) after I had a fall at home. It happened at 5.30am while I was drinking a glass of plain water. All of sudden, I fainted and woke up 10 minutes later. I had fallen on my right side.
When I went to the clinic, I was examined by a doctor in Room 30. He prescribed Panadol as well as a cream for external use.
Since I was in pain, I asked him whether I should have an X-ray done. He said no.
That made me wonder whether he was a qualified medical doctor. Normally, any doctor would have compassion for patients who are in pain.
As the pain persisted, I went to the clinic again on Aug 9. I saw another doctor and told him about the pain in my shoulder. After examining me, he sent me for an X-ray, which revealed that I had fractured two ribs during the fall.
The Health Ministry is spending billions of ringgit to provide healthcare for Malaysians. Having a doctor like the one who attended to me the first time is going to tarnish the good name of the Health Ministry and also the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC).
I would like the ministry to assure everyone that all medical personnel are properly trained and that there are no fake doctors in service. I also want to request that the MMC investigate the doctor concerned. RETIRED CITIZEN Kuala Lumpur
