‘Customer’ robs store of cash and smartphone

A MAN pretended to be a customer before running off with cash and a smartphone worth RM700 in total at a convenienc­e store in Sungai Petani, Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported.

The incident happened at 12.40am on Wednesday, said Kuala Muda District Police Deputy OCPD Supt Saifi Abd Hamid.

He said the robber entered the shop pretending to buy a drink. When a worker was giving him his change, the robber took out a parang and ordered the cashier to hand over all the money to him.

The robber then ran away with his accomplice, who was waiting on a bike outside the shop.

Wong was quoted as saying that she might do that, when asked to comment on speculatio­n that she and Siu were planning to marry.

The 76-year-old singer, who has been singing for more than 50 years, said he would still sing for charity in the future.

Cheng had his farewell concert in Genting Highlands in May.

> Oriental Daily reported that Hong Kong artistes Nicholas Tse and Faye Wong were spotted holidaying in Japan.

They were seen queueing up in separate lanes at an airport in Japan.

It was believed that the couple did that to avoid attention.

Some netizens believe that the couple were in Japan to celebrate Tse’s birthday, which falls on Tuesday.
