Allowing sale of smaller packs of cigarettes can help smokers cut down by having fewer sticks a day. – Non smoker Anti-smoking activists and the Health Ministry are saying smaller and cheaper packs would only incite the young to smoke. But why aren’t they doing something to stop the sale of illegal cigarettes which are much cheaper and can easily be bought in markets everywhere? – Backfire

Allowing smaller packs could help reduce the budget of adult smokers who would smoke fewer sticks a day. Consumers would also opt for the smaller packs instead of illicit cigarettes that are of poor quality. In fact, it is easier for youngsters to get illicit cigarettes because they can buy 20 sticks for only RM3 to RM5. – Mindful > Mind your language
