PETALING JAYA: The “united” voices of several local artistes in recording the song Bumi Tercinta has resonated well with Malaysians in conjunction with the nation’s 60th birthday.

With the likes of Jaclyn Victor, Dayang Nurfaezah, Azlan and the Typewriter, Talitha Tan, Back2Basixx, and the Permata Seni choir Thohir and volunteer students lending their voices to the song, the catchy four-minute slow rock ballad is fast becoming a popular tune.

Composed by Aubrey Suwito with Ad Samad taking eight months to pen the lyrics, the song was produced by Aman Malaysia, an NGO promoting unity, peace and patriotism.

Its president Datuk Hazali Abu Hassan said he was delighted the song has garnered over 125,000

likes on its Facebook page.

“It is also being shared on other social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram and is beginning to be appreciated by the public, especially youths,” he told The Star.

He said Aman Malaysia decided to use music and the voices of wellknown local singers as one way to promote unity, peace and patriotism.

“We see this song as more than just marking our National Day. It will survive for much longer,’’ he added.

Hazali said Bumi Tercinta may be included as one of the numbers for today’s grand closing of the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games.

“We are also planning a Bumi Tercinta musical at the end of this year for charity,” he said.

The song was launched by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin on Aug 1 to boost patriotism.
