KUALA LUMPUR: The passing of Puan Sri Lee Kim Hua marks the beginning of a new era for the family, according to one of her six children.

Datuk Lim Chee Wah said the family leadership would now be helmed by his elder brother, Genting Group chief Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay.

“Now that my mother has been laid to rest, I believe this will complete the full transformation of our two lovely parents, with the family led by Kok Thay.

“I wish him good health because he has taken on a very heavy burden,” he told reporters at the family residence in Taman Duta here yesterday.

Chee Wah said that his late father, Genting founder Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong, had seen through everything in the business before passing away about a decade ago.

“Ever since then, I have admired my brother who has managed and grown the business and that of the legacy of our father,” said Chee Wah, who pledged to help his brother in any way he could.

The cortege left the family residence at 9.50am yesterday for the Gohtong Memorial Park in Gohtong Jaya, Genting Highlands.

The solemn procession comprised some 1,000 people, who included relatives and close friends and about 300 Genting Group staff.

Lee, who died on Friday at the age of 88, was laid to rest beside her husband.
