70,722 celebrate birthday on National Day
A TOTAL of 70,722 Malaysians celebrate their birthday on National Day each year, Kosmo! reported.
In addition, 968 of them also turned 60 this year, having been born on Aug 31, 1957.
Information Department director-general Datuk Ibrahim Abdul Rahman said a total of 11,574 individuals from Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan will celebrate their birthday on Sept 16, Malaysia Day.
“Based on records received from the National Registration Department, a total of 70,722 people were born on Aug 31 between 1957 and 2016, while 11,574 people were born on Sept 16 between 1963 until last year,” he said.
He also noted that the department was in the midst of updating its figures of those born on these significant dates in the country’s history.
Ibrahim explained that the department wanted to collect the information in order to invite them to future events.
“Those born on those dates can submit their name, address, IC number, phone number, and e-mail us at anak2msia@gmail.com,” he said.

The offer was personally handed to Siti Asmak Hashim, 20, at her father’s restaurant by UUM deputy vice-chancellor (student affairs and alumni) Prof Madya Dr Abdul Malek Abdul Karim.
Siti Asmak said she was surprised that Abdul Malek gave her the offer in person.
“This truly inspires me to work harder and will motivate me in my studies. My parents are very happy that all their hard work paid off,” she said.
The former student of SMK Agama Kedah said she would do her best to achieve her dream of becoming a bank officer and help her parents in the future.
