IPOH: Perak MCA has urged DAP to stop its “ostrich politics" act and clarify its stance on PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim supporting negotiations between his party and PAS.

Perak MCA chairman Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon said it was irresponsible of DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng to say that the matter was viewed as an internal family affair.

“DAP has often played themselves up to be the champion of the Chinese community but it is clear that they have been deceiving the community by saying that DAP holds significant power in Pakatan Harapan.

“It is evident today that DAP has only been feeling good about themselves instead of defending the rights of the Chinese," he said in a statement.

Dr Mah said DAP should immediately inform the community if they would continue to work with PKR and PAS in the next elections while secretly boosting the power of the Islamist party.

“DAP is supposed to represent the Chinese community in Pakatan Harapan but clearly in recent negotiations and talks, they have been sidelined.

“DAP's failure to step up and refute Anwar's decision to support PKR-PAS talks shows that they have completely let the Chinese community down,” he said.

Dr Mah is also urging DAP to be more bold in saying "no", adding that the party should either clarify their stance or quit the coalition altogether.
