Ti: ‘Citizens’ parody shows DAP’s true face

-

PETALING JAYA: The move to ridicule the popular Citizens video on a pro-DAP Facebook page proves the party’s hate-mongering culture, says the MCA.

MCA’s publicity spokesman Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker said the video, featuring MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai in a double-act role, had a positive impact on the people.

However, he said the Facebook page responded by posting a parody with a clear intent to subvert the positive messages in the original video.

“DAP and their cybertroopers have criti- cised the now viral video as they intend to spread negativity as a means to win votes.

“It is obvious that DAP cannot go beyond its political game of exploiting racial and religious divides.

“DAP’s political culture is about creating divide on the ground by exploiting differences and through hate-mongering,” Ti said in a statement yesterday.

In the six-minute Citizens video, Liow portrays himself in his everyday role as Transport Minister having a no-holds barred conversation with a citizen who has grouses about the way the country is run – a role also played by Liow.

The video has clocked in more than 260,000 views since it was uploaded to YouTube on Aug 27.

Ti said that although the video was nonpolitical and solely focused on the love for the nation to mark the 60th National Day, DAP had twisted it to sow hatred.

“The powerful message was felt by many and its encouraging and positive reviews prove that Malaysians are not divided as they love their country,’ he said, accusing the DAP of practising gutter and immature politics.
