SEA Games success a springboard for progress
MEGA congratulations to Team Malaysia for emerging as overall champion of the 29th SEA Games and also for the excellent job in hosting the Games. The athletes, coaches, volunteers and organisers all did a marvellous job and deserve a big pat on the back. Syabas and tahniah.
Symbolically, success in sports also indicates the progress made by the people of a country. It is a given that many developed countries around the world are also superpowers in sports.
Being a champion requires a lot of hard work and perseverance, and champions embody the excellent qualities of a human being.
As we march towards 2050 in line with the aspirations of the National Transformation (TN50) plan, a lot can be implied from this success. As we all know, the strength of any country lies in its people. Our success in the 2017 SEA Games will inspire many Malaysians to further believe in the spirit of Malaysia Boleh. It has proven that no matter who we are and where we are, success can be ours if we grab the opportunities given and work hard to achieve our dreams.
I am sure there are many Malaysians throughout the country who are talented and gifted in many areas. It is important for us as a nation to uncover these hidden talents and mould them into champions in all fields. To become a developed society, we really need champions in all areas and after 60 years of independence, it looks like we are on the right track.
This success may also inspire Malaysians to be more involved in sports either as professionals or just for health. Either way, we must continue the momentum and I would like to suggest to the relevant authorities that they double efforts in providing facilities to as many Malaysians as possible. As the saying goes, “sharp thinking comes from healthier bodies”, and healthier Malaysians will make our journey towards 2050 smoother.
Once again, congratulations to all involved in the SEA Games 2017. Malaysia Boleh.
