> Save our wildlife

Totally agree with Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, “Change attitude to help protect wildlife” ( The Star, Sept 5), that we must change our attitude in order to keep wild animals safe. It isn’t just the illegal trade in wildlife that needs to be stopped. We must also prevent the destruction of their habitats so that they can stay safe within the forests and not wander into the highways or human settlements.

> Highway crawl

I am one of those who took over eight hours to reach KL from Penang on Sunday. It was not due to an accident causing a pile-up. It was simply due to drivers of overloaded heavy vehicles overtaking each other on the two-lane sections of the PLUS Expressway. To solve the problem, I would suggest that PLUS ban heavy vehicles during periods of heavy traffic. – Maniam Sankar

> Speed still limited

Last year’s Budget mentioned that the Government would fund telcos to double Internet speed at no cost to consumers. To date, nothing has happened. I checked with Internet service provider and was told the Government didn’t provide the funds. Who is telling the truth?

> Law is lopsided

The Strata Act is lopsided. Authorities can seize assets worth more than the amount owed but tenants who pay their dues cannot get remedy for services not rendered. – Prof (B)

> Gambling dens persist

It looks like nothing has been done to wipe out illegal gambling outlets in Selangor. Instead, there are more new ones opening here and there. The state government should cut the electricity supply to these premises.

> Respect the flag

Why are sports medallists fond of wrapping their national flag around them during the prize-giving ceremony? Looks messy and shows no respect for the flag especially when it is crumpled while being held in one hand.

> Service in return

Government should set some minimum requirements, like providing air-conditioned premises and free WiFi and debit card payment facilities, on owners of food outlets who want to impose service charge. – Ckeong

> Remembering Hj Samsuri

I knew Hj Samuri from the days when he sold satay from a sidewalk in Jalan Sulaiman. He was a kindhearted and generous man. – Siti Aishah, Kajang

> Stop power thieves

Power thieves throughout the country must be put out of business. The acts may not be rampant but they are dangerous. Energy Commission, please take action. – MK
