Woman threatens council officer over illegal parking
Netizens condemn unruly behaviour
KUALA LUMPUR: A video clip of an incensed woman threatening a municipal council officer with a steering lock has gone viral on social media. It is believed the shouting match erupted after the officer clamped her car for parking illegally in front of a restaurant.
The woman was heard repeatedly shouting “apa salah saya” (what is my offence), claiming that she was buying a meal for a disabled person.
“I’m buying a meal for a disabled person. Is that wrong?” The woman was heard screaming.
The officer, clad in a Subang Jaya Municipal Council vest, calmly explained that she had parked in a wrong spot.
“It’s not wrong to buy a meal. But, you parked in the wrong spot,” he was heard saying.
Despite the explanation, the woman continued with her angry tirade while waving the steering lock at the officer.
The video, posted by PublicNews on Facebook yesterday afternoon, garnered over 326,000 views and 7,400 shares.
Netizens berated the woman’s unruly behaviour. Facebook user Amy Choong SY commented that helping a disabled person was not an excuse to park illegally.
“You are helping the disabled but you are not disabled and that is not an excuse. Please just shut up and pay up!”
Others praised the officer for remaining calm despite being provoked.
Dhaniya Rani Raja Mohan commented: “Hats off to that officer for his patience!”
Shiryne Chang complimented the officer for being professional.
“The officer is very professional. He explained in a calm manner despite facing the lady who obviously lost her temper!”
