Foreign women luring local men to spend lavishly

-

AT least two local men have fallen prey to a syndicate which used foreign women to lure them to spend an exorbitant amount of money in bars, Oriental Daily reported.

The men were forced to pay between RM599 and RM999 for a set of couple meal, but the food served were just ordinary dishes.

Kuala Lumpur Chinese Assembly Hall vice-president See Foo Hoong said he received two complaints in the past three months.

To investigate, he befriended a Chinese national woman on WeChat and had a similar experience.

“The woman claimed that she was travelling around Malaysia. She invited me for a drink at a bar, and I was shocked to see the menu.

“There were only three choices of couple meal, which cost RM599, RM899 and RM999. I told her I would only order a soft drink, but she said she could pay for the meal.

“The waiter later served us the RM899 meal made up of a few side dishes and a plate of fried chicken. The so-called red wine was actually concentrated fruit juice,” See said.

He said the woman remained silent when the waiter brought the bill over to their table.

“I paid RM100 and told her I had to get more money from my car, but I left,” he said.

See said according to his observation, three pubs in Cheras, Pandan Indah and Setapak were the gathering places of the syndicate and he urged the public to be careful.

> Four security guards were arrested after four armed robbers escaped with RM800,000 from an armoured security van, the daily also reported.

The incident happened at a petrol station in Bukit Antarabangsa, Am- pang, where the van was supposed to refill the ATM machines at about 5pm on Wednesday.

The robbers fired shots into the air and told the security guards to hand over the money bags before fleeing with two bags.

The robbers also took away the rifle of a security guard.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said the four – three men and a woman aged between 21 and 33 – were picked up by the police at 1am on Thursday, and were being remanded for a week.
