The film, Pencuri Hati Mr Cinderella, opened at all cinemas on Aug 10.

Ahmad Idham said although the romantic film did not get a positive response, it did not mean that the artistic aspects of the film would not yield rave response from people in the industry.

He said that it would not dampen his spirits and his losses amounted to only RM500,000 as the sponsors had absorbed the costs.

> A chicken rice seller, who broke his five-year-old son’s right thigh in a fit of anger, was jailed 10 years by a Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.

Tan Kheng Tong, 27, broke down and said he had repented and regretted his action, Kosmo! reported.

Sessions judge Noradura Hamzah, who meted out the punishment, said Tan had abused his right as a father and had unnecessarily hurt his son instead of protecting him.

She added that the child was defenceless and hoped the sentence would serve as a deterrent to all.

Tan was accused of committing the offence in Sentul on June 13.

He was charged under Section 31 (1) (a) of Child Act 2001, which carries a RM50,000 fine or 20 years’ jail or both upon conviction.
