KUALA LUMPUR: Homeowners of the Federal Territories Affordable Homes Programme (Rumawip) Residensi Desa Satumas project in Taman Desa will benefit from the appreciation of their property value due to its strategic location, said Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

“There is no house in Kuala Lumpur with a built up area of 850sq ft with swimming pool and condominium-like facilities sold for RM230,000, and located next to Bandar Malaysia,” he said.

“From the 3,002 units that will be built, we have allocated 60% of the units to bumiputras, and the rest to balance the racial demographic composition in Seputeh constituency and to enhance unity.”

Addressing the first unit balloting session for the project at the site yesterday, he said: “We understand the difficulty faced by the people to buy houses as property prices are very high.

“Realising this, I am happy to note that the ministry has reached 85% of our target of building 80,000 housing units under Rumawip by 2020.

“In fact, we expect to exceed the target.”

Residensi Desa Satumas will be built on 3ha of land. There will be seven blocks, consisting of 40 and 43 floors.

Each unit will comprise three rooms and two baths. One parking lot is allocated to every unit.

Other facilities include a multi-purpose hall, surau, children’s playground, an indoor play and exercise area, among others.

The project is expected to start soon and will take 36 months to complete.

Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd chairman Tan Sri Chai Kin Kong said this was their 14th Rumawip project.

“With this project, Aset Kayamas would have built a total of 14,000 out of 80,000 targeted Rumawip units in Kuala Lumpur.

“This is also the first Rumawip project under RM300,000 per unit that comes with swimming pool facilities.

“We took the challenge to keep the price very reasonable as a commitment to the community.

“This was done by increasing the density, choosing an economical design and settling for a lower profit margin,” he said.

Aset Kayamas also participated in Star Media Group’s Raise The Flag campaign by organising a colouring contest in Sekolah Rendah Seri Setia, Sekolah Rendah Tamil Saraswathy and Sekolah Rendah Cina Yoke Num.

Winners received cash prizes of between RM200 and RM700. Each school received RM5,000.

Chai said they wanted to play a part in spurring the patriotic spirit among Malaysians.
