KLIA terminals to showcase Kelantan every weekend
SEPANG: Get a taste of Kelantan at both terminals of KLIA every weekend till Oct 1.
Dikir barat, wayang kulit, silat and other traditional performances will be staged to highlight Kelantan’s rich heritage and to attract travellers to the east coast state.
Kelantan state Culture, Arts, Tourism and Heritage Committee chairman Datuk Maj (Rtd) Md Anizam Abdul Rahman and Malaysia Airports managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali launched the Kelantan pavilion at the departure area of KLIA2 yesterday. It is Malaysia Airports’ fourth collaboration with a state tourism agency in the “Joyful Malaysia” initiative.
Badlisham said the initiative is aimed at contributing towards achieving the country’s target of 36 million tourist arrivals by 2020.
“We believe Malaysia Airports has the perfect platform to share our culture with visitors to our country,” he said.
Md Anizam said the collaboration was part of the state’s effort in promoting Kelantan Tourism 2017 with the theme of “Kelantan Di Hati”.
“In 2016, Kelantan received about 5.8 million tourist arrivals and more than 75% of which are local tourists. We hope we will be able to better this number through such collaboration,” he said.
