Azmin tight-lipped over call to review PAS’ position in state govt

-

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali has spoken to Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) leaders on its motion calling for a review of PAS’ position in the state administration.

“They will resolve the matter internally and I was told that Amanah will issue a statement,” Azmin told reporters after delivering his speech at the Selangor-Asean Business Conference 2017 yesterday.

He declined to comment further. On Sunday, Ampang Amanah chief Mohd Anuar Mohd Yusof tabled a motion during its state convention, urging Azmin to consider PAS’ position in the state administration as there would not be any political cooperation between Pakatan Harapan and the Islamist party in the general election.

Mohd Anuar’s motion was debated and passed by the delegates.

Earlier in his speech, Azmin said Asean was working towards greater integration as opposed to countries in other regions, which were leaning more and more towards protectionist policies.

“We take comfort in the optimism of Asean’s economic integration. Barring the issue of matters that prick our conscience, we should continue with a policy of pragmatism for Asean,” he said.

The two-day conference features over 20 speakers, including chairman of the Malaysian chapter of the Asean Business Advisory Council Tan Sri Munir Majid, EU-Asean Business Council executive director Chris Humphey and former Singapore High Commissioner to Malaysia Ong Keng Yong.
