Man and mum killed in road crash

SEGAMAT: A man and his mother, who were travelling to Labis, were killed when their car collided with a lorry from the opposite direction, after some rain.

The accident at Kilometre 165 of Jalan Johor Baru claimed the lives of Hamzah Selamat, 40, and his mother Mokminah Kasdini, 73. Hamzah’s 39-year-old wife and their four-year-old child survived the crash which happened at around noon yesterday.

Police have yet to determine the cause of the accident.

The lorry driver, who also suffered injuries, and the survivors were sent to Segamat Hospital.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for causing death by reckless driving.
