Cosmetics tycoon defends decision to adopt baby

COSMETICS millionaire Datuk Aliff Syukri ( pic) defended his decision to adopt a newborn baby girl after he was accused of “purchasing” the baby from her mother, reported

Aliff said such an issue should not arise as he would raise the baby as part of his family.

“My intention is to take good care of her just like my own, and I want

pahala (divine rewards) in the hereafter,” he said.

Aliff adopted the baby, Ameena Aliffsha, and created an Instagram account called “babyterlajaklaris” to share updates about her.

The social media account courted controversy with some people accusing Aliff of buying the baby from her mother, who is facing some personal difficulties.

“Although I have the money, for me, nothing can be compared to love and it cannot be bought with money.

“Actually, we received many offers from other parents who wanted to give us their children, but we had to decline them due to several reasons, including some who only wanted money in return.

“We chose Ameena because my wife is really comfortable with her mother, who has a good heart and does not want anything from us.

“She just wanted her child to be accepted into our family and receive love just as any of our own children,” he added.

According to him, his wife Datin Nur Shahida Mohd Rashid got to know their adopted daughter’s mother through Facebook.

“She requested us to take care of Ameena. She has gone through a lot and we sympathise with her situation and agreed to adopt Ameena,” said Aliff.

The couple have three children of their own, aged from five to 11 years old.

> After more than seven years, a female leatherback sea turtle has returned to Rantau Abang, Terengganu, to lay 92 eggs, reported Berita Harian.

The turtle was spotted along the beach of Pantai Rhu Cikgu, near Rantau Abang and Jambu Bongkok, Marang.

A resident, Hasang Husing, 60, found the turtle eggs at the site when he was making his rounds at the beach at about 6am on Sunday.

“I found its nest and counted 92 eggs before I called the Marine Department,” he added.
