-

ALOR SETAR: The late Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah was a very disciplined, punctual, kind-hearted and down-to-earth leader who always had the rakyat in his heart, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Dr Ahmad Zahid, who represented Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who is away in the United States, arrived at 12.20pm yesterday at Istana Anak Bukit here.

“I have known Tuanku since I was the Defence Minister and organised two LIMA (Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition). I also met Tuanku on many official visits during his time as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“His punctuality and discipline are an example to many of us. He was a personality who always wanted the best for the nation and the people.

“I also remember his advice to me when he returned to Kedah after serving as the Agong, when Tuanku told me to always be by the Prime Minister’s side and assist him.

“I will not forget that advice and will do the best that I can,” he said.
