Jobless man killed in crash near toll plaza

ISKANDAR PUTERI: An unemployed man was killed after the car he was driving rammed into a road barrier at the Lima Kedai toll plaza here.

Chong Yue Sheng, 26, was heading towards Senai from Gelang Patah when he crashed at 11.15pm on Monday.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Noor Hashim Mohamad said initial investigat­ions revealed that Chong had lost control of his car.

“The vehicle skidded and rammed into the metal road barrier.

“The victim suffered severe injuries to the head and was trapped in the vehicle after the accident,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said the victim died on the way to Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Hospital in Kulai.

In Kota Kinabalu, police are investigat­ing two deaths, by drowning and fire, that happened within 24 hours of each other in the city.

The body of an unidentifi­ed man, with a tattoo on his back, was found by villagers near Gaya Island at about 6.45am on Monday.

That of another man, burnt beyond recognitio­n, was discovered in a razed car in Penampang yesterday morning, KK police chief Asst Comm M. Chandra said.
