PETALING JAYA: Two nursery workers were robbed just as they were about to open for business at the premises in Taman Sri Gombak.

Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Ali Ahmad said the incident occurred at around 6.25am on Monday.

“We received a report from a 25-year-old woman, claiming that she and her colleague were opening the gates when two men on a motorcycle approached.

“One of the men got off the machine and pointed a parang at them and demanded their valuables,” he said yesterday.

He said the two women handed over RM102 to the suspect before he fled with the rider.

“The victims could not identify the suspects as they were wearing helmets with dark visors.

“We have classified the case as armed robbery,” he said adding that police in the district and neighbouring districts have been alerted.

A 42-second video of the robbery was posted on the Taman Sri Gombak Facebook page.

In an unrelated case, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said two men have been linked to a string of laundromat robberies.

“The suspects were caught red handed as they were trying to tamper with a washing machine money box in Sri Damansara yesterday.

“We found a spanner which was believed to have been used to open the machines,” he said.

He said the suspects, both aged 19, have been remanded until Sept 15 to help with investigations.

“We believe the two are behind several similar cases in the district,” he said.
