Old woman slapped by trader for asking price of veg

A 71-YEAR-OLD woman was allegedly slapped by a female trader at a market in Taiping, Perak, for asking the price of a vegetable the trader was selling, reported Guang Ming Daily.

Chen Cai Zhi said she went to the stall at about 8am on Sept 6 and found that there was no price tag for the vegetable she wanted to buy.

Asking for the price, she also questioned the trader about not displaying the price tag.

When the trader started scolding her, Chen said she wanted to leave but the woman slapped her and even took away her walking stick to beat her with it.

Chen lodged a police report. > China Press reported that a man has told police he was conned into ordering a RM300 glass of “red wine” that tasted like a soft drink.

The 35-year-old said he had become friendly with a woman from China via a smartphone app and arranged to meet with her in a pub in Malacca on Sept 9.

However, he suspected something amiss after drinking the “red wine”. Giving her the excuse that he wanted to withdraw money from an ATM, he fled the pub.

He later received a message from the woman telling him to come back to the pub or she would circulate his photo.

After the man lodged a report with the Immigration Department, its officers raided the pub on Monday night and detained four Chinese women, all in their 20s.

Wu, who is part of the group F4 in the Taiwanese hit drama Meteor Garden, was approached by reporters for a comment after speculation arose that the relationship had soured. The 39-year-old US-born singer-actor dismissed the rumours.

He also said that he was acting in China recently while his wife was busy with her business in Singapore.

Asked if they were planning to celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary together, Wu replied: “I would like to.”
