Statue of late actor MGR unveiled at conference
A life-sized statue of the late actor and Tamil Nadu chief minister M.G. Ramachandran has been unveiled at an international conference at Universiti Malaya to celebrate his life and achievements, Tamil dailies reported.
The two-day event, organised by the Malaysian Indian Community Advancement Society (MICAS), aims to impart his values and principles.
Better known as MGR, the actor turned politician was well known for his films and activism during his three terms as chief minister.
A delegation of Tamil Nadu businessmen and officials, including Minister for Information and Publicity Kadambur Raju, attended the event. MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam unveiled the statue, which was donated by a businessman.
