Early birdies push Amir to top of leaderboard
Amir Nazrin Jailani (pic) took advantage of three early birdies to claim the first-round lead in the Professional Golf Association of Malaysia (PGAM) Players’ Championship.
The 19-year-old rookie professional carded a four-under 68 at the Impian Golf and Country Club in Kajang yesterday to be one stroke clear of former national teammate Daeng Abdul Rahman Abdul Aziz.
Completing the youthful leaderboard at the RM200,000 tournament is Shahriffuddin Ariffin, who is a further shot back in third.
Wilson Choo, Rashid Ismail and Muhd Wafiyuddin Abdul Manaf are in joint fourth after carding identical 71s.
