Spirit of patriotism an ‘asset’ to Kayamas executive director and his staff.

KUALA LUMPUR: Armed with soaring levels of patriotism, scissors and sticky tape dispensers, staff of Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd waited eagerly for the newspapers to be delivered.

The reason for the high spirits at the property developer’s office yesterday? The company had sponsored the final issue of Star Media Group’s Raise The Flag special four-page wrap, which also marked the highlight of the celebration.

When the newspapers finally arrived, the staff and management – who were thrilled to see the prominent branding – spent long, noisy moments assembling the Jalur Gemilang cutouts alongside their executive director Michael Chai, before waving them with gusto as they cheered for the upcoming Malaysia Day.

Chai said the company had embraced both National Day and Malaysia Day in a big way this year, and had pulled out all the stops decorating its headquarters and project sites with Jalur Gemilang of all sizes.

It had also organised ground activities, gave out thousands of flags, held an inter-departmental flag-decorating competition and cheered on athletes at the 29th SEA Games.

“As an anak Malaysia, the Jalur Gemilang means a lot to me, my family and our company ... as does National Day and Malaysia Day,” he said, adding that this was why Aset Kayamas had stepped in to be the main sponsor for the Raise the Flag initiative, a two-month campaign to boost patriotism and unity among Malaysians.

“Our multi-hued Jalur Gemilang projects the multi-cultural and multi-racial aspects of our country,” he said.

Aset Kayamas also sponsored copies of yesterday’s The Star to various educational institutions, including Taylor’s University, HELP University and KDU College.
