Uniten student represents country
REALISING the importance of producing holistic graduates, who are not only excellent in their studies but also in other skills, Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten) constantly exposes its students to events and competitions.
Its Master of Mechanical Engineering programme student Koguleshun Subramaniam was recommended by his lecturer, Dr Grace Pua, to take part in the Institution of Engineering and Technology’s (IET) Present Around the World (PATW) national level competition.
Competitors included those from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, Asia Pacific University, Multimedia University, Southampton University, Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus, UCSI University as well as Uniten took part in the competition.
Koguleshun emerged as the overall winner with his presentation entitled “Waste to Wealth: Eco-catalyst for Biodiesel Production”. He won RM500 and a certificate, presented by IET Malaysia Chapter Young Professional Section president Leow Shoun Ying.
Koguleshun is the first Uniten student to have won the IET PATW national level competition. The competition required the partici- pants to deliver a 10-minute presentation on a chosen topic, followed by a five-minute question-and-answer session. Fusion Energy, Neural Networks, Bisphenol A, Magnetic Levitation, Neural Machine Translation, Nanoelectronics and Quantum Computation, were among the topics that were presented.
By winning the national level completion, Koguleshun represented Malaysia at the IET PATW Regional Competition in Auckland, New Zealand.
“I am honoured to represent Malaysia in this competition in Auckland,” he said.
