Calling all Maxwellians

-

SMK Maxwell celebrates 100 years of its founding this year.

Maxwell students have made a definite impact and a lasting impression on the nation in nearly every aspect of community over the years.

With the support of the parent-teacher association (PTA) and the current administration, the school is working with a committee to organise the centenary celebration, which will be held on Sept 30 at its premises in Jalan Tun Ismail, Kuala Lumpur.

A series of events have been mapped out from the morning to the evening dinner. It promises to be a once in a lifetime affair.

The call is out for every Maxwellian, past and present, to come together and show their sup- port in one way or the other.

The main coordinator Datuk Ahmad Suhaimi Ali reminds all Maxwellians to “please ensure that we make this day a magical one for Maxwell School.”

“We can do so much to help the school with some basic facilities and amenities that it requires.

“This day will see to it that we leave a lasting legacy for Maxwell,” he said. The valued traits of accomplishment have been instilled in every Maxwellian who studied here.

“In fact, our students have gone on to become true leaders in nearly every field and aspect of the Malaysian community and have even been a positive impact regionally. Let us make this one day count.” he said.

Maxwell School was set up in 1917 by a British expatriate William George Maxwell who saw the need for a young struggling Malaya to start a school that catered for boys. The architecture of the school followed a Moorish outlook with a colonial touch, with similar outlooks with the nearby Sultan Abdul Samad Building and the Kuala Lumpur railway station building.

There were two initial blocks, designed in the formation of the alphabet ‘H’, which later finished with a link between the two towers.

For more information, students past and present are invited to call Saiful Bahri Shariff Ghazali at 011 160 9909 or Ahmad Roshidi Awang Kechik at 011 1115 5451.
