Seri Puteri to celebrate 50th anniversary

-

PERSATUAN Alumni Sekolah Seri Puteri (PUTERI), announced a yearlong plan of festivities to commemorate its 50th anniversary in 2018.

Themed ‘50 Years of Excellence’, the celebration is expected to bring together hundreds of former and existing students and teachers from across the nation and the world.

The year-long celebrations which will be a concerted effort by PUTERI, Sekolah Seri Puteri (SSP) Cyberjaya and the school’s parent-teacher association (PTA) will see an array of funfilled activities and programmes that would bring back fond memories to its former students.

At the soft launch of the celebrations recently, 50 batch representatives from the different years, released gold balloons into the air, symbolic of its 50th anniversary.

Others present included SSP principal Nor Aishah Abdullah, teachers and staff, alumni and PTA members, and current students.

PUTERI also unveiled the official logo for the celebrations, which was selected from a logo design competition held among its members.

The winning bunga raya inspired logo was designed by Najwa Husni Yusof, a 1982 alumna.

PUTERI will also initiate a fund-raising project to present the school with a 40-seater bus.

Speaking at the soft launch, PUTERI president Mastura Ma’sud said: “While we look back and celebrate our 50 golden years, we continue to strive for excellence for Sekolah Seri Puteri, to serve a greater cause for our future’s nation-building.”

“Hence the tagline ‘Celebrating our Past, Igniting our Future’ was chosen to complement the logo,” she added.

SSP was established in May 1968 and was initially known as SMK Perempuan Jalan Kolam Ayer, Kuala Lumpur. In 1978, at its 10th anniversary, the school was renamed as Sekolah Seri Puteri. The school moved to its current premises in Cyberjaya in 2003.

PUTERI welcomes all former students to join in the golden jubilee celebrations. For more information, visit its website at ssp50years.puteri. org or send an e-mail to ssp50years@ gmail.com.
