Slow learner claims trial to sexual abuse of eight-year-old boy

MELAKA: A 35-year-old suspected paedophile claimed trial in the Sessions Court here to allegedly sexually abusing an eight-yearold boy.

Muhammad Anil Asiff Zamaludin was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 before judge Norma Ismail.

The charge carries a jail term up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

The accused, who is a slow learner, is alleged to have committed the offence at the toilet of a community hall in Taman Tambak Paya Permai, Ayer Molek, here at 6.30pm on Sept 13.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Ruvina Mohd Rawi prosecuted while the accused was represente­d by counsel M. Pusppa.

The court granted bail of RM15,000 in one surety and fixed Oct 19 for mention.

In Putrajaya, a maintenanc­e company worker was charged with raping a 15-yearold girl he befriended via WeChat last month.

Muhammad Ajid Nasiruddin, 19, is accused of raping the girl at an abandoned house in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur, at 9pm on Aug 7.

He was charged under Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code in the special court for sexual crimes against children here yesterday.

He claimed trial before Sessions Court judge Yong Zarida Sazali.

Deputy public prosecutor Nordiyanas­ari Omar did not offer bail for fear that the accused would harass the victim while lawyer Aiman Ariff Abdul Azij appealed for bail to be granted.

Judge Yong Zarida fixed bail at RM7,000 pending mention on Oct 23.

She also ordered the accused not to contact the victim pending disposal of the case.
