Duo held over man’s severe beating
SHAH ALAM: Two suspects have been remanded in connection with the severe beating of a man in Klang recently.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said the two, aged 38 and 39, would be on remand for three days.
Selangor CPO Comm Datuk Mazlan Mansor earlier said the suspects surrendered to police on Monday.
“We had been hunting for them since a video (of the beating) went viral,’’ he told reporters at the Selangor police headquarters yesterday.
Midway through the beating, the victim fell to the ground, writhing in pain.
Community Policing Malaysia founder Kuan Chee Heng said he had brought the two suspects to the police headquarters for them to surrender.
It was reported that a domestic dispute between a couple over an unkempt house and unwashed clothes then turned into a bizarre summary disciplining by a stranger.
The beating by cane was recorded by another man and uploaded on Facebook.
Odd-job labourer Khor Meng Heong, 52, was reprimanding his wife at their home in Klang when an elderly man who was passing by asked her what had happened.
He is also said to have stared at Khor, which angered the latter.
In the one-minute, 44-second video, a man was seen beating Khor in front of his wife and child.
Kuan said he had accompanied the two men to meet Khor on Sunday night and they apologised to him, which the victim accepted.
