PKR almost certain to vie for Tebrau seat in GE14
JOHOR BARU: PKR is almost certain to vie for the Tebrau parliamentary seat under the Pakatan Harapan umbrella after getting the nod from the coalition’s top leaders.
State PKR chairman Hassan Karim said that although an official announcement had yet to be made, Pakatan Harapan said PKR would be allowed to field a candidate in Tebrau in the coming general election, as it had in the previous one.
“We are aware of talk that another coalition party was eyeing the seat but we have sorted it out and the leaders have agreed on PKR.
“Negotiations for other seats in the state are still ongoing,” he told reporters during a press conference at the Johor PKR office here yesterday.
It was earlier reported that DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang had expressed his party’s intention to contest the three seats which were previously allocated to PKR in past elections.
Lim, the Gelang Patah MP, later denied it and stressed that DAP was not interested in the three PKR-allocated parliamentary seats

“Our track record in Tebrau has been very good and we lost only by just 2% in the last election,” Hassan said.
State PKR deputy chairman Jimmy Puah said the party hoped to contest in 12 parliamentary and 12 state seats, but the dynamics of the opposition pact had shifted with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia joining the group.
Puah, who is Bukit Batu assemblyman, also said PKR had no intention of trading the two seats it won in Johor during GE13 – his state seat and the Batu Pahat parliamentary seat, held by Mohd Idris Jusi.
