SHAH ALAM:

The Selangor police have received a Proton Persona car and automotive parts from Proton Berhad as training tools for mechanics attached to the contingent.

State police chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Mansor said he was grateful to Proton for donating the car along with an engine and transmission to the police mechanics.

He added that the car and parts would be used as learning tools in the training of their mechanics.

“Proton will also lend us experienced technicians to train our personnel.

“We have 19 mechanics here and they will go through the eight-month course to improve their capabilities in maintaining and repairing our police vehicles,” he told reporters after accepting the vehicle and parts at the Selangor police headquarters here yesterday.

Comm Mazlan said the aim of the course was to produce police mechanics equipped with comprehensive and updated knowledge in their fields.

“We want to train them to be competent in technical aspects of the jobs as well as social skills,” he added.

He said the course, which began on July 7, would end on March 3.

Training would be conducted at the Police Technical Academy in Muar as well as the Selangor police transport depot.
